SPRING FASHIONS TO TRY FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT

Black

Black fashion for spring and summer may seem unconventional, but it’s a trend that’s gaining momentum for those who want to make a bold and sophisticated statement. While lighter colours often dominate warm-weather wardrobes, black can be remarkably versatile when incorporated thoughtfully. It’s classic and simple and let’s the wearer (you!) shine. A lot of people are scared of black, particularly for photoshoots however, I personally LOVE it. A black dress is such an easy and simple outfit for your photoshoot, particularly if you’re postpartum (um… hello leaking boobs and maternity pads!!). It looks great with denim and just about any other colour too so is a great option to use in coordinating the rest of the family’s outfits. Think lightweight black sundresses with intricate lace details for a touch of elegance, or sleek black linen pants paired with a breezy white top for a striking contrast. Black accessories, such as oversized sunglasses, strappy sandals, or a chic sun hat, can add a dramatic flair to your outfit.

White

White is the quintessential color of spring and summer fashion, and this season is no exception. Crisp, clean, and timeless, white fashion pieces take center stage as they evoke a sense of freshness and lightness. From flowing maxi dresses to tailored shorts and breezy linen shirts, white is versatile and adaptable, making it a staple in every warm-weather wardrobe. White outfits can be effortlessly elevated with subtle textures, lace detailing, or sheer fabrics, adding depth and dimension to your look. White is also a great colour for kids outfits. It’s simple and clean, which allows for them to be the focus of your photos.

Shirts

Oversized poplin shirts as a must-have wardrobe staple. These shirts, with their relaxed and airy silhouette, bring a refreshing and contemporary twist to the season. The beauty of oversized poplin shirts lies in their versatility; they can be effortlessly paired with everything from high-waisted shorts to wide-leg trousers. The breathable cotton fabric keeps you comfortable on warmer days, while the oversized fit adds an element of laid-back sophistication. Whether you opt for classic white, pastel shades, or bold prints, oversized poplin shirts offer a perfect blend of comfort and style, making them a standout choice for a fresh and fashion-forward spring look.

Lounge wear & matching sets

Lounge-wear is all about blending comfort and style. This season, we’re seeing lots of breathable, eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, linen and bamboo in geometric patterns as well as soft, pastel hues. This trend is my current go to, specifically oversized shirts with matching wide-legged pants (either drawstring or elasticated) for supreme comfort. If I can look good and feel like i’m wearing PJ’s it’s always a winner in my books. Don’t be afraid to go for matching sets as you can always mix n match with other items in your wardrobe too!

Comfy shoes

Comfort seems to be a bit of theme here… and comfy shoes that aren’t running shoes are an absolute winner! New Balance is having a huge resurgence in popularity, worn with anything and everything, from pants to dresses and skirts. These kinds of shoes are perfect for your outdoors photoshoot as they’ll look amazing with literally any outfit and be perfect for going on an adventure.

Waistcoats

In the realm of spring fashion, waistcoats are emerging as a stylish and unexpected choice for both men and women. Traditionally associated with formal attire, waistcoats are getting a modern makeover this season. Lightweight, pastel-colored waistcoats are becoming a favorite layering piece, offering a touch of elegance and structure to casual outfits. They can be worn over simple tees, blouses, or even as a standalone top for a versatile and chic look. Pair them with high-waisted trousers, denim, or flowing skirts to create a balanced and on-trend ensemble. This resurgence of waistcoats in spring fashion adds a touch of sophistication and a nod to classic style while embracing the season’s spirit of reinvention and versatility.

Semi-sheer

I love that semi-sheer fabrics are in. This trend embraces the art of subtly revealing while leaving much to the imagination. Whether it’s a semi-sheer blouse, a dress with sheer panels, or a skirt with translucent layers, the allure of semi-sheer fabrics lies in their ability to create a play of light and shadow, adding depth and intrigue to any outfit. They’re soft and flattering, and can create stunning silhouettes in the right light (a photographer’s dream!). Semi-sheer fabrics don’t always have to be super dressy either… a sheer t-shirt is the epitome of understated elegance. Just make sure you get your undergarments right! Designers are using ethereal, lightweight materials like chiffon, organza, and tulle to craft pieces that are perfect for spring and summer.
